Central Michigan University’s Dearborn center is one of eight CMU centers in the
Detroit metropolitan area and one of more than 50 CMU sites throughout North
America.
The local campus offers five eight-week sessions that meet either one night a
week, one-week formats, or on Friday and Saturday on alternating weekends.
Faculty come from academia, business and industry.

The Eastern Region of Davenport College is the former Detroit College of
Business. The Davenport Educational System is the largest independent college
system in Michigan.
Nearly 7,000 students attend the three Eastern Region campuses in Dearborn (main
campus), Warren and Flint. The schools are accredited by the North Central
Association of Colleges and Schools.
The three Eastern Region campuses have a graduate employment rate of 96 percent
(based on 1996 survey).
The more than 30 bachelor’s and associate’s degrees programs offered at the
three campuses range from accounting to medical case management.
The faculty numbers about 300, many of whom work in business while teaching
part-time at Davenport’s Eastern Region.

Henry Ford Community College is a comprehensive, public, degree-granting,
non-residential community college offering the first and second years of
college-level education.
Areas of concentration are arts, business and science. Many additional programs
and areas of study are also available.
HFCC was founded as Fordson Junior College in 1938. The name Dearborn Junior
College was adopted in 1946. Dearborn Junior College became Henry Ford Community
College in 1952 after Henry Ford Trade School, upon its closing, turned its
assets over to the Dearborn Board of Education.
HFCC is part of the Dearborn Public School District and is governed by a
seven-member Board of Trustees, elected for four-year terms by registered voters
of the Dearborn Public School District.
Fall and winter semesters run late August-December and January-April for eight,
12 and 16 weeks, depending on the class. The spring semester runs April-June.
The summer semester runs June-July. Both these are 7½ week semesters.

One of three campuses governed by the U-M Board of Regents, UM-Dearborn has four
major academic units: The College of Arts, Sciences and Letters; the School of
Education; the School of Engineering and Computer Science; and the School of

Founded in 1959 through a gift of land from the Ford Motor Co. and a grant from
the Ford Motor Co. Fund, the university is on the original estate of auto
pioneer Henry Ford.

When the doors opened in 1969, students previously excluded for various reasons
from higher educational opportunities found a home at Wayne County Community
College.
Since its founding more than a quarter of a century ago, graduates of the
college have had a profound impact on the professional, political and technical
life of cities in Wayne County and Michigan.
College alumni hold positions as teachers, dentists, journalists, nurses,
corporate business professionals, law enforcement officers, administrators,
elected officials and a variety of other positions in professional and technical
areas.
